Past ITURO's


The ITU Robot Olympics, which entered 11 years of age in 2017, took place at Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center in Ayazağa Campus, ITU, 6-7-8 April. 545 preliminary projects from 269 projects; Line Follower, Line Follower Junior, Basketball, Mikro Sumo, Construction, Stair Climbing, Maze, Color Selecting, Self Balancing, Scenario and Innovative Category competed in 11 different categories.

In ITURO 2017, approximately students from 90 universities and high schools participated as competitors and seminars, interviews and panels were realized with the participation of over 10,000 visitors. It has been attracted to many publicity channels, especially social media, and has been featured in many printed and visual publications. With additional awards and winner awards total of 63 awards were given to participants.

The ITU Robot Olympics, which entered 10 years of age in 2016, took place at Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center in Ayazağa Campus, ITU, 8-9-10 April. 252 preliminary projects from 252 projects; Line Follower, Basketball, Mikro Sumo, Fire Fighter, Stair Climbing, Maze, Color Selecting, Self Balancing, Scenario and Innovative Category competed in 10 different categories.


The workshop performed by ITU Control Engineering Ph.D. Student Ufuk Sevim in ITURO 2016 attracted great interest. Sevim talked about Kalman Filter's Theory and Practices, which has application in all areas of engineering, especially aerospace and space vehicle navigation and control in the workshop. At the same time, the innovative category contestants found the opportunity to exhibit their robots in the media and received great interest by visiting with academicians. Approximately students from 90 universities and high schools participated as competitors and seminars, interviews and panels were realized with the participation of over 10,000 visitors. It has been attracted to many publicity channels, especially social media, and has been featured in many printed and visual publications. A total of 30 projects were awarded.

ITU Robotic Olympics in 2015, on April 9-10-11 took place in Suleyman Demirel Cultural Center located on the Ayazaga Premises. During ITURO in 2015, 406 of 739 pre-registered  projects has competed in 10 different categories which are Micro-Sumo, Line Following, Fire Fighting, Self-Balancing, Maze, Basketball, Colour Selecting, Stair Climbing, Scenario and  Innovative Category.

ITURO 2015, was held with participation of around 90 universities and high schools and more than 10.000 visitors willing to attend seminars, causeries, panel discussions and workshops. It aroused interest in many promotion mediums especially in social media and ITURO also appeared in visual and written media with many news. 27 project in total were awarded and competitors of innovative category had the chance to display their robots in media.

As in previous ITURO’s in ITURO 2015 panels, causeries, seminars also workshops were organized and attracted considerable attention of both competitors and visitors.  The topics and speakers of seminars, causeries and panels in ITURO 2015 are as follows.

During ITURO in 2014, 294 of 583 pre-registered  projects has competed in 11 different categories which are Micro-Sumo, Line Following, Vacuum Cleaning, Fire Fighting, Self-Balancing, Maze, Basketball, Colour Selecting, Stair Climbing, Scenario and  Innovative Category.

The fastest ballbot REZERO built by Peter Frank Hauser and Michael Neuert from Zurich Technical University received great attention from visitors and competitors alongside, the exhibition robot of our sponsor Staubli.

Robot Olympics of ITU 2013 was organized on 11-12-13th of April at Süleyman Demirel Cultural Centre in campus of ITU. After 911 preregistration, 519 student made projects competed in 10 different categories as Line Follower, Mini Sumo,Micro Sumo, Vacuum Cleaner, Fire Fighter, Quest, Maze, Self Balancing Robot, Stair Climbing and Innovative Category. Projects of our proud sponsor and the team ODTU KOVAN has been interested by many visitors and competitors. ITURO 2013 has been realized with participation of 90 high schools and universities;  and more than 10.000 visitors who has been interested in seminars, panels and interviews. ITURO 2013 has found a considerable place in written and visual media.

27 projects have been awarded by jury in ITURO 2013 considering in 10 different categories. The innovative category participants had a great chance to show and present their projects in visual media.

Robot Olympics of ITU organized in 12-13-14 April 2012 at Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center in Ayazağa Campus of ITU. 855 student projects made pre-registration for ITURO 2012. 310 of them competed in seven different categories: “(Line Follower, MiniSumo, Vacuum Cleaner, Fire Fighter, Maze, Balancing Robot and Innovative Category)”. Participants of organization showed their projects on their tables in Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center. The robots, brought to exhibit by sponsors of ITURO, Neotech and Entech Educational Technologies, attracted the attention of visitors. ITURO 2012 had many competitors from 90 different universities and high schools and over 7000 visitors. ITURO 2012 found a considerable place in written and visual media.

Robot Olympics of ITU organized in 31 March and 1-2 April 2011 at Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center in Ayazağa Campus of ITU. 753 student projects made pre-registration for ITURO 2011. 372 of them competed in eight different categories: “(Line Follower, Line Follower Enhanced, MiniSumo,Vacuum Cleaner, Fire Fighter, Maze, Balancing Robot and Innovative Category)”. Participants of organization showed their projects on their tables in Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center. The robots, brought to exhibit by sponsors of ITURO, Staubli and İRobot, attracted the attention of visitors. ITURO 2011 had many competitors from 70 different universities and high schools and over 7000 visitors.

ITURO 2011 found a considerable place in written and visual media. 24 projects which have competed in different categories were awarded with prizes. Competitors of Innovative Category took an opportunity to show and present their projects in visual media.

ITU Robot Olympics of organized in 15-16-17 April 2010 at Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center in Ayazağa Campus of ITU. 651 student projects made pre-registration in ITURO 2010. 354 of them competed in seven different categories: “(Line Follower, Line Follower Enhanced, MiniSumo,Vacuum Cleaner, Fire Fighter, Maze, Balancing Robot and Innovative Category)” Participants of organization show ed their projects on their tables in Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center. ITURO2010 had many competitors from 70 different universities and high schools an over 6000 visitors. ITURO 2010 found a place in written and visual media. ITURO 2010 achieved to be first in its branch with online live broadcast.

21 projects which were made in different categories were awarded with the prizes. Competitors of Innovative Category took an opportunity to show and present their projects in visual media. Competitors also took these prizes: industrial design, patent and utility model. There were also panel discussions, interviews and symposiums out of the competitions in ITURO 2011.
